Coleen Allen’s Artist Statement
My first set of paints was given to me as a child from my
parents. It’s been a wonderful journey that’s become a
passion. As I’ve grown, I have an appreciation for that
gift, not just a set of paints but an exciting, challenging
experience always learning and seeing something new. I
need to paint; to me it is like food for your soul. The more
I paint the happier I am.
I am inspired by nature, striving to create what I see and
make it even more then it is by exaggerating what I see
making it even bigger and bolder with movement and lots
of color . I hope to touch others with a spirit of inner
happiness and excitement for nature’s surroundings.
My current passion is painting larger than life acrylic
flowers, using transparent acrylic colors and dark
contrasting backgrounds, as well as interference colors to
add an impressive shimmer. I love painting to music and
adding movement to every stroke. My goal is to have
people look at my work and feel joyful! To stop and notice
the beauty of not just my art, but nature it’s self.
